San Diego Unified School District Installs Murdock Drinking Fountains and Bottle Fillers

City of Industry, Calif. — May 2, 2022
All students in the San Diego Unified School District will soon be drinking water from Murdock Drinking Fountains and Bottle Fillers.
This massive project is in response to problems with lead in the drinking fountains that have appeared in tests since 2017. The district has provided bottled water to students and installed filters that removed the lead, but felt that installing the Murdock fountains and bottle fillers was the next right step.
“We had a lot of data to look at, and we just decided the right thing to do is just to go and put in these high-quality filtered hydration stations and to do it as quickly as possible.” Murdock's entire product line is lead-free and filters are available to remove select contaminants.
The first Murdock units were installed at Cesar Chavez Elementary in the Southcrest community in San Diego. All elementary schools in the district will have the fountains and bottle fillers by the end of next year, and they will appear at schools district-wide by 2024.
